Low Sugar Fruit Dip

Updated: Jul 20, 2021

Perfect for bariatric patients!

It's finally summertime in PA and at our house, we love all the fresh fruits and veggies we can get both from our garden and at the local farmer's market! There's something so satisfying about eating fresh watermelon and cantaloupe, especially when it's super sweet and juicy. Oh, and fresh ripe strawberries - yum!

We eat fruit for dessert most days when it's in season, and to make it especially dessert-like, I make a delicious low sugar fruit dip from cream cheese, yogurt, vanilla extract and Splenda. It adds an element of creamy goodness to your fruit and makes it even more decadent!

I really like the Two Good brand of low sugar greek yogurt. I've used the Strawberry, Vanilla, and Blueberry flavors for this dip with great results! Two Good is made by Dannon and the Vanilla only has 2 grams of sugar and 3 grams of carbs in the cup. I use regular cream cheese instead of light to keep the carbs down, but you can use light cream cheese if you wish!

Be aware that fruit may cause dumping syndrome for some. My husband and I are both sleeved and neither of us have had that issue from fruit, but everyone is different. Check with your dietician if you have concerns!
