It's My Two Year Surgi-Versary!

ree

July 15th, 2019 was the start of my new life. I was terrified. I almost backed out after being prepped for surgery. But here I am, two years post-op and happier than ever!

The difference between the 2020 and 2021 pictures? Exercise! I added working out to my daily routine and boy, has it made a difference! My daily workout is 30 to 45 minutes long and I workout on my Nordictrack treadmill using iFit. I have the one with the 10" screen. I also do some strength training and I'm hoping to add a rower to my home gym.

iFit? Life changer! I've never been able to stick with an exercise plan until I started using iFit. It's an interactive training program that adjusts the incline, speed, etc. on your iFit connected machines as your trainers explore places all over the world on your built in screen or tablet. So it's almost like you're there with the trainer in person. There's also live classes all day, and a huge on-demand library of workouts that range from walking to running to sprinting. And this is just for the treadmill! There's also iFit connected bikes, ellipticals, rowers, and cable systems. My favorite trainers are Jesse Corbin and Danielle Gray, both are so motivating and by following their workouts, I've gone from being a fitness walker to a runner in about four months time! I've lowered my resting heart rate to 51, and overall I can tell I'm much more fit and healthy than I was prior to adding exercise.

This past year has been different for me (and everyone else of course!) but not just because of the pandemic. My husband was sleeved about four months ago and it's been different for us to go from having one sleever in the house to two. I can't push my unfinished food over to him to finish anymore. Cooking less food has been a little difficult to manage. Overall we support each other and we're both having wonderful success. It's amazing how much a marriage improves when both people are happy with themselves.

I still have 40 pounds to lose, but it's not a race. My gastric sleeve is a tool that is permanent and I plan to use it to it's full ability to hit my goal weight. Until then, I plan to enjoy every step of the journey to become a healthier me.
